I find it interesting that the male citizen all had to participate in government. Each year each tribe would send 500 men to serve on the counsel for one year and none could serve for more than a term of two year in a life time so that ever citizen could learn from direct experience.

I also like that in Sparta that all young boys were grew up together in school, and were taught honor, to fight, and had rights of passages that gave them a sense of who they were as a member of that society. If we had this in today’s society there might me less gangs and school violence.
